Sjøfors bridge

The bridge at Sjøfors dates back to 1905, the year that Norway declared independence from its forced political union with Sweden.

Just 1 km outside Korgen village centre is a beautiful stone-built bridge, with a nearby picnic area.

From Korgen, if you head towards Bleikvasslia along Fv806, you will soon arrive at the arched stone bridge. It’s a fine example of the craftsmanship of the stonemasons and bridge engineers of the past. Sjøfors Bridge, built in 1905, was in use until 1960. In 1980, it was carefully restored to its original appearance. Today, the bridge is a listed cultural monument, and cars instead use the newer bridge nearby.
