Each year at the end of November, you can experience how the Christmas spirit comes alive along the harbour, from the old wharf buildings of Lapphella to Torget, Hemnesberget market square.
Here are stalls full of varied goods, gløgg (the traditional Norwegian hot mulled wine), lit fire bowls, horses shod for riding, Christmas workshops, an exhibition of gingerbread houses – and lots of tempting food in the cafés and restaurants, and in Sámi lavvo tents.
