The Wilderness Road winds 133 kilometers through mountain and forest villages, and is a good alternative to driving or cycling the E6 between Majavatn and Korgen. Although the road is narrow and winding in parts, it is paved and open all year round.
A walk along the Wilderness Road offers views of Okstindan, Røssvatnet and Børgefjell National Park, and there are many opportunities to find nice picnic spots in nature.
In addition to the wild and beautiful landscape, there are several small adventure and local food vendors along the road. Many of these are open during the summer season, including Kamkake baking at Gammelskola in Bleikvasslia.
If you want to get the most out of it, we recommend a drive or bike ride during the Wilderness Road Day every year in August (not held in 2023). Here, friendly hosts provide many delicious tasting experiences and exciting activities, cultural events and tours.
