From 16 July to 10 August, you can experience a package tour to Rabothytta. This is a green and unforgettable trip to Norway’s most awesome tourist cabin! You travel by train to Bjerka, pick up a rental car near the railway station and start a journey through history and beautiful nature.
The adventure begins at Hemnes Bygdetun, a rural museum in Bjerka. An exhibition awaits here where you will get to know the Frenchman Charles Rabot, who gave Rabothytta its name. You get to taste the local baked kamkaka, and will also see how it is made. The tour then goes through the lush valley Leirskardalen and up towards the majestic Okstindan, a national treasure with many adventure opportunities.
After a drive of just under 30 km, you set off for a 2-3 hour hike up to Rabothytta. This is a spectacular cabin, owned by the Hemnes Tourist Association, voted Norway’s finest unattended cabin in 2020. It is located 1200 m.a.s.l. at the foot of the glacier Okstindbreen. Staying in a DNT cabin is more than a stay, it’s a social and sustainable experience! After a night at the cabin, several trails for exploration await around Rabothytta, including the option of glacier hiking with a certified guide.
Local food culture, award-winning architecture, and spectacular nature – this is an experience that gives you memorable experiences and a kinder egg of adventure!
