The café Baksterkailln & Kokken (The Baker and the Chef) is based in pleasant premises in the center of Hemnesberget, with a lovely view of the marina, the fjord and the mountains. The café has about 50 seats indoors and 80 seats outdoors.
Good, homemade food is served from a versatile menu with everything from fresh yeast baking, cakes, al’a carte, salads, hot lunch every weekday, and a selection of dinner dishes on certain days. The café has a strong focus on home-baked/home-cooked food where they make 99 % of all food themselves. Everything is lactose-free and there are always options for celiacs/gluten intolerants.
The cafe has eventually developed into a regular meeting place for many of the local heroes, and has fixed days for both the ladies and the gentlemen.
They offer catering, tapas, private functions, closed events, confirmations, weddings, etc. They also arrange a number of larger events with music, cruises in collaboration with MK Remi-Ketil, Christmas parties, Amcar meeting, etc.
In the summer (15/6 – 15/8) they open the former Hansasmuget, where there is a pub/restaurant with simple dishes.
There is also an opportunity for local knitters/artists to sell goods in the cafe – Definitely worth a look!
