Norske Kvinners Sanitetsforening – local group in Hemnes
The Norwegian Women's Public Health Association is one of Norway's largest voluntary response organizations, and Norway's largest women's organization! It's about getting involved in a community of strong and passionate people who work to improve women's health and ensure safe communities. In Hemnes there are four associations, which are more or less active and have different focus areas:

The local church councils in Hemnes
The local church counsils are tasked with running the parish in the best possible way and facilitating the church to have various meeting points with a focus on Christian faith and values. The councils are an elected body, and are responsible for electing representatives to Hemnes Church Council, which consists of two members from each of the three local church councils, a representative from the municipality and a representative from the bishop. In Hemnes there are three churches, one at Hemnesberget, one in Korgen and one in Bleikvasslia and each place has its own local church council.

Norwegian People's Aid in Korgen is an active team that is involved in search and rescue, and who also provides first aid workers at various events. The Norwegian People's Aid has its own cabin on Korgfjellet and this is the base for the Easter emergency preparedness. If you join as a volunteer in first aid and rescue services, you are an important part of the emergency preparedness in the local community. The Norwegian People's Aid offer the training needed, free of charge. The Norwegian People's Aid in Korgen also has a youth group, which is an offer for young people between 13 and 18 years of age, and many young people are involved in the association and participate in both courses and social events.
