When the sun is shining and the locals would like to take a swim, they often head for the beach at Røssåauren. It’s a beautiful sandy beach and the waters are shallow. Here you can play sand-volleyball, or grill food for yourself and friends or family in the convenient barbecue pits. There are public toilets as well.
To get to Røssåauren, drive highway E6 and take the turnoff just south of Bjerka. Follow the signs for Røssåauen, and after 4 km you are here.
Please note: Hemnes Municipality has an agreement with the local landowners that ensures public access to the beach. This agreement stipulates that the beach and bathing season don’t start until the farmers have sent their sheep away to their summer pastures. That exact date varies from year to year, but it will normally be during the first couple of weeks of June. (Last year the bathing season at Røssåauren opened on 2 June.)
Also by agreement with the landowners, camping is not permitted, nor is anyone allowed to spend the night here in their caravan or camper. We strongly encourage everyone to show consideration for the neighbours and other users of Røssåauren beach. This means parking sensibly and helping to keep it clean and tidy. Please take all rubbish with you when you leave. Let’s keep this great beach beautiful and pleasant for everyone!
