In Okstindan Nature and Culture Park there are two reindeer herding districts and the chance is high that you will encounter a herd of reindeer on your trip, especially in the Okstindan area. When it is warm, the reindeer move up onto the glacier to avoid annoying insects. The reindeer are not dangerous, and both they and the reindeer herding Sami people greatly appreciate that people and dogs do not scare them and allow them to have their place in the mountain world.
