New cabin complex
Ever since the international cycling race Arctic Race of Norway finished at Korgfjellet in 2016, Korgfjellet Fjellstue has expanded its facilities. They can now offer six brand new high-standard cabins, a caravan site with electricity, a service building with shower, toilet and washing machine, as well as a sauna and a large outdoor open-air bath. In addition, there are five rooms with 13 beds inside the Fjellstue itself.
It will probably be popular to stay here, right at the start of miles of hiking trails both summer and winter – with a view of Okstindan included. On Fjellstua's website you can check what is available and book online. During the winter it will be closed for periods, so check the website for opening hours.
Over 60 years of serving
Korgfjellet Mountain Lodge has served delicious food to satisfied guests on mountain hikes or road trips since 1958.
Even after the E6 was tunneled through the mountain in 2005, Asgeir Molden and his people have kept their doors open as long as the road over the mountain has been open – mostly from Easter to October/November. When renting out the cabins, Fjellstua will keep the restaurant open, even during periods when the only means of transportation to the top is scooter or skis.
Hiking terrain with panoramic views
From the parking lot at Fjellstua, 555 meters above sea level, on fine days you have a panoramic view of Okstindan, Lukttindan and Svartisbreen.
Here you will also find the start of several marked summer trails if you need to stretch your legs a bit. Try the 5 km trail where children in collaboration with our local artist Yvonne Rosten have contributed beautiful animal sculptures. From Easter onwards it is nice to follow the mountain on skis, in both directions from Fjellstua. It is a popular destination for both long and short trips. If you want to leave the car and cycle for a while, Fjellstua offers electric bike rentals!
Welcome to the top!
