Instead of speeding through the Korgfjell Tunnel, take the scenic mountain route. And treat yourself to a stop at Korgfjellet fjellstue, a lodge that offers good food combined with a great view of the

New cabins available

Korgfjellet Fjellstue has significantly expanded its facility since 2016, when the cyclers riding in the Arctic Race of Norway crossed the finish line at Korgfjellet. Korgfjellet lodge now also offers six new comfortable cabins, a campsite with power hook-ups for people travelling by caravan, a sauna and outdoor swimming pool, as well as a service building with a laundry facility, showers and toilets. This is in addition the five rooms (13 beds) inside the lodge itself.

In winter as well as summer, the lodge is the perfect base for enjoying the many hiking and cross-country skiing trails nearby. The magnificent view of the Okstindan mountains is inspiring! During the winter, Korkfjellet Fjellstue is occasionally closed. On the website you can check available dates and opening hours, and book your stay.

A 60-year dining tradition

Since 1958, Korgfjellet Fjellstue has been serving satisfying meals to its countless guests, eager hikers and people travelling by car. In 2005, the Korgfjellet tunnel was completed – but people who prefer the scenic experience still choose the old road through the pass. Except when heavy snows close this road, Asgeir Molden and his staff welcome people to Korgfjellet Fjellstue. Most years, the lodge itself is open roughly from Easter until October or November.

However, even when the road is closed, eager outdoor adventurers who arrive by skis or by snowmobile are welcome to rent the cabins. The restaurant remains open to serve them hearty fare.

Hiking with panoramic views

On clear weather days, you can enjoy a panoramic view even from Korgfjellet’s parking lot (555 m). The panorama includes the Okstindan mountain range, Lukttindan (1343 m) and the Svartisbreen glacier. At the parking lot you will find several trailheads, and the trails are well marked. If you walk our popular 5-km family trail, you will encounter exciting animal sculptures made by local children in collaboration with the artist Yvonne Rosten. From Easter onwards, you can enjoy great cross-country skiing from Fjellstua, short or long trips and in several directions.

Welcome to Korgfjellet!
