Hemnes Historielag is a voluntary association that many in the municipality greatly appreciate. Over the years, they have collected and disseminated both ancient and recent local history, preferably in written form.
The club was founded in 2001, and publishes both a members' magazine and a yearbook. Membership costs 200 kroner per year, and membership is completely non-binding.

The editorial team is always looking for good, interesting stories from the local community. Some write their own stories, while others prefer to share them orally. The latter works well, because the history team has people who can write the stories down.
Yearbook for Hemnes comes every two years. The eighth in the series was published in the fall of 2022. Apart from the first publication from 2007, the history team has old yearbooks in stock, for those who might want good reading material.
