Hemnes Art Association was founded on January 27, 2022. Surprisingly many people showed up to establish a new community, where people interested in art of all kinds can collaborate and create life and excitement.
The founding meeting began with a short lecture about "having an artistic soul." A word we may have different opinions about, but in Hemnes there are so many creative people with the desire, will, and ability to create that we should lift up the artistic souls for all they are worth.
With this as a backdrop, the association was established, with the goal of promoting art and crafts through exhibitions, member meetings, courses, lectures and similar activities. Perhaps in the long term a permanent gallery could be established in the municipality?
The association would like to develop good meeting places for artists and aspiring artists who pursue different forms of expression. Active members who take initiative and get things started will be of great help in making this happen.
On the board we meet people with varied interests. They share a desire to embrace a broad range of interests. Painting, photography, film, sculpture, woodcarving, textiles, knifemaking, performance, text, drama, sound and music are all highlighted.
In other words, it is an inclusive environment, open to all the creativity among the people of Hemnes. The vision is to create an arena that inspires and facilitates both creating and experiencing art.
The association's first exhibition was held at the beautiful Lapphella Kulturarena, as part of the annual spring festival weekend at Hemnesberget. Four local artists were a huge success, with many visitors and great engagement. A glimpse from there in the photo gallery below.
