Gressvasshytta is pleasantly situated between Gressvatnet and Speltfjelldalen Nature Reserve, and is a good starting point for trips on Okstindbreen. The cabin offers 28 beds. Dogs are allowed in the security cabin. The best starting point for a trip to Gressvasshytta is Kjensvatnet or Spjeltfjelldalen/Granheim by Røssvatnet.
Gressvasshytta is also a good starting point for a summit hike to Oksskolten if you are going to take the trail outside Austre Okstindbre. Follow the signs from the trail between Gressvasshytta and Kjensvasshytta, before you cross the Oksfjell River. See description on Hemnes Tourist Association's pages.
In the fall of 2023, Gressvasshytta was completed after a major renovation, and now has more accommodation, a larger living area and improved cooking facilities. And best of all: you can now enjoy a direct view of Northern Norway's highest peak, Oksskolten.
