Korgen Camping

In the middle of nature, with fishing opportunities right outside your door!

A few minutes from the E6 and the center of Korgen you will find Korgen Camping, which is idyllically located by the salmon river Røssåga, with large fields and green mountains as a backdrop.

Here you can stay in affordable, small summer cottages, or have full comfort in large, winter-insulated cottages. There is plenty of space for caravans, motorhomes and tents, and the campsite offers a playground with a trampoline, kitchen, living room and service building with shower, toilet, washing machine and dryer. You can also rent an electric bike here and all guests have access to free internet.

Salmon fishing

Korgen has a long tradition of welcoming salmon fishermen. The first English salmon fishermen came to the village as early as the 1850s.

It is therefore natural that the campsite has its own fishing pond, where salmon fishermen from near and far come every summer to fish for large salmon and trout. Along the river there is a well-maintained walkway and several shelters with a campfire site, and inside the campsite you will find a preparation table, freezer and barbecue area.

Both hydropower regulation and a phase with a salmon parasite have contributed to a fair number of challenges over the years. Today, the river is completely healthy, but strict regulations still apply – both in terms of season, quota and sampling.

Read more about salmon fishing and the care of the river in separate texts, which you can find in the right column on PC, and at the very bottom if you are on mobile.

A 60-year history

Started in 1965, Korgen Camping is one of the oldest businesses in the municipality. It was established when camping was in its infancy. For a long time, there were many white tents and later orange and blue tents. The changes are great today, when visitors often come with large campers and beautiful caravans.

Until 2006, it was a summer campsite. With growing demands for comfort and a desire to extend the season, investment was made in five winter-insulated high-standard cabins. At the same time, the reception was converted into a year-round residence for drivers. This gave Korgen an accommodation option all year round, something visiting workers appreciate.

The campsite has hosted a number of festivals, including vintage car, vintage camping, motorcycle, music, outdoor and river festivals. These attract many visitors from near and far.

The square has always functioned as an "information center", where employees guide guests to varied nature and cultural experiences. With up to six employees in the period June-August, there are not a few of the municipality's young people who have visited the company as seasonal employees over the years.

Value creation

Through the fact that the host has been an active driver of tourism development in our municipality, the small business (along with many other small businesses) has contributed to valuable value creation in the municipality. The campsite is still run by the Fordelsen family, but is also up for sale with the hope that others will want to contribute to the new development of this pearl in the "inside of the heartland" of beautiful Helgeland.
