TRAIN (+ ELECTRIC BICYCLE / HYBRID CAR)
With Nordlandsbanen you can easily, environmentally friendly, and often also reasonably priced, reach Okstindan Nature and Culture Park. From Bodø the trip takes approx. 3,5 hours, while it takes approx. 6 hours from Trondheim. To visit us, get off at Bjerka station.
If you do not have an appointment to be picked up at the station, you can either take a bus or order a taxi. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the nearest bus stop (Station Crossroads).
It is possible to rent a car a few hundred meters from Bjerka station, and electric bicycles are available from several operators, check the link on the right.
If you need a taxi to get from the train station to Hemnesberget, it costs approx. NOK 500 during the day. If you are going on a mountain hike in Okstindan, you can take a taxi to Inderdalen Gård, at the start of the DNT trail to Gråfjellhytta, for approx. NOK 600 during the day. If you want to start at the top of Leirskarddalen, take a taxi to the end of Fv. 322/Fv. 7352, which also costs approx. NOK 600 during the day. It is possible to ask the taxi to drive 5 km further on the gravel road all the way to Leirbotn, where the marked path to Rabothytta starts, but this costs an extra NOK 2-300 (here there is a reservation that the road is driveable - winter closed road). Please also note that there will be a surcharge for evening trips and night and weekend trips. See further information about taxis below.
FLY
Our nearest airports are Mo i Rana Airport, Røssvoll, and Mosjøen Airport, Kjærstad. The airline Widerøe flies to these airports, and they have several daily flights to Trondheim and Bodø. Mosjøen Airport is served by taxi, and Mo i Rana Airport by taxi and airport bus.
Røssvoll is located about 45 minutes drive from Korgen/Hemnesberget and you can rent a car at the airport, or take the airport bus to Mo i Rana and a bus from there to Finneidfjord/Hemnesberget/Bjerka/Korgen, or take the train to Bjerka. A taxi from Røssvoll to Korgen costs about 1.350 kroner (daytime), and from Mo to Korgen about 1000 kroner. The airport bus to Mo from Røssvoll costs about 150 kroner per person, then you can take a bus to Korgen or a train to Bjerka Station for about a hundred kroner, and possibly a taxi further (taxi Bjerka – Korgen costs about 300 kroner during the day, see also price information under the section on trains). Please note that there is a surcharge for evening trips and on night and weekend trips.
CAR RENTAL AND TAXI
It is possible to rent a hybrid car from Nordvik Bil right next to Bjerka train station, but apart from that there are no car rental options in Okstindan Nature and Culture Park. RING +47 75 52 91 40 or send an email to leiebil@nordvik.no to reserve.
In Mo i Rana there are Avis, Budget, Europcar, Rent-A-Wreck, Sixt and Hertz car rentals.
If you want a taxi, it is best to pre-order by calling 751 91 000. See information about taxi fares under the sections on trains and planes.
If you are coming by car from the north, you drive the E6 through Finneidfjord, Bjerka and Korgen. If you turn off the E6 in Finneidfjord, you can continue on Fv. 808 towards Hemnesberget. In Korgen you can turn off the E6 and drive towards Bleikvasslia and Røssvatnet on Fv. 806. This is part of the Wilderness Road, and you can drive all the way to Majavatn and continue on the E6 south from there.
Also if you are coming from the south, the Wilderness Road is an exciting alternative to the E6. Then you turn off just north of Majavatn and follow the signs for Fiplingdal and the Wilderness Road. The road goes via Hattfjelldal, Vesterbukt and Bleikvasslia to Korgen. The distance from Majavatn to Korgen is about 140 km.
There is a charging station for electric cars in Korgen, just off the E6 at Circle K and behind the Korgen Center.
MOBILE CAR
It is possible to empty septic tanks with us, but not greywater. See info in the link to the right. Propane, petrol and diesel can be purchased at Circle K on E6 in Korgen. Petrol and diesel can also be purchased from a vending machine at the gas station on Hemnesberget.
For RV parking, see info under ACCOMMODATION in the top menu.
BY BUS
Boreal Buss has routes that go to the various towns in the municipality, as well as to Mo i Rana, Mosjøen and Sandnessjøen. Some routes only run on school days and unfortunately not during the holidays.
BOATS
For those traveling by their own boat, there are three guest marinas in the municipality. Bjerka marina has two guest berths and is located right next to the beach and train station. Marina Hemnesberget has 14 guest berths in the area by Lapphella, just a few meters from Baksterkailln & Kokken and Coop Prix, and here there is a service building with a washing machine, shower and toilet for the disabled. Finneidfjord also has a small boat marina, on the north side of the settlement.
