On Korgfjellet there are miles of groomed cross-country ski trails, and from Easter the road has been plowed up from Korgen so that you can drive your car all the way to the top of the mountain, at Korgfjellet Fjellstue at 555 meters above sea level, and walk from there. It is also nice to start the ski trip from Prekstolmoen or Folkehjelpshytta.
The preparation of trails is a collaboration between Hemnes Municipality and Korgen IL. Since Norwegian People's Aid is still stationed on the mountain, they also prepare trails on behalf of Korgen IL.
You can check the updated status of the trails at any time at skisporet.no if you have a subscription (it is always the "newest" color that applies where there are different colors on the same trail, the mix is due to poor GPS coverage in some places). You can also view the trail network without a subscription.
It is popular to make a hole in one of the many slopes near Fjellstua and enjoy the sun, a thermos and a packed lunch... and maybe you want to bring your sled...
Korgfjellet Mountain Lodge offers both accommodation and a good meal after a long day in the mountains.
